How to Use Prestige Turbo Yeast
How to use Prestige Turbo Yeast
Our fastest acting yeast produces high alcohol concentration in an extremely short period, making it perfect for producing sugary or starchy mash or fruit mash with up to 18% and sometimes 20% alcohol content. Furthermore, its production of volatiles is less compared to other faster acting varieties and its temperature tolerance makes this one our most popular Turbo Yeast options.
Turbo Yeast’s instructions stipulate that it can be mixed directly into sugar solutions without pre-soaking, unlike many other yeasts. This is because its highly osmotic-tolerant qualities enable fermentation to start immediately upon contact with sugars.
No soak of yeast should be performed due to difficulties measuring how much water and sugar have been added, and to ensure sufficient differences between their osmotic pressures to allow enough nutrients from sugar for yeast growth.
Turbo Yeast ferments quickly, producing heat during its fermentation process. Therefore, using a thermometer is recommended in order to monitor liquid temperatures and keep them well below 30oC.
Turbo Yeast may reduce some control over your brew, as fermentation typically requires five to seven days for primary fermentation and one week for secondary. With Turbo Yeast, fermentation time can be drastically cut back but you are limited to using one strain included with each yeast pack from manufacturers.
